Brintons Computer Setup Checklist

1. Remove all unwanted programs / malware and trial-ware, ie: antivirus, outlook etc.   New Outlook Web Access Link
2. Create the new user on a domain controller and assign a new password. Make sure they are members of the appropriate distribution groups (designers should be part of Design, sales people should be part of Reps, etc.)
3. Join the computer to the Brintons domain and place the user in the proper directory.  (This needs to be done on a domain controller (Brintons-FS2 or Brintons-IT servers).
4. Install Microsoft Office, Vipre Antivirus, Citrix client, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Filezilla and PDF995.  These vary between departments – see specific departmental list below.  The common programs across all departments are highlighted in red.
5. Setup Microsoft Outlook on the desktop (This can only be completed on the Brintons-EX server).  If setting up a notebook, setup Outlook for accessing the exchange server when inside and outside of the Brintons network by creating 2 profiles.  Also configure GFI Archiver.
6. OWA setup parameters are  
   Microsoft Exchange Server = Brintons-ex.brintonsusa.local
   User name = Brintons User name
   More Settings 
   Use this URL to connect my proxy server for Exchange = Brintons-ex.brintonsusa.com 
   Connect SSL only  
   Principal name of proxy server:  = msstd:Brintons-ex.brintonsusa.com
   Put  a check mark in both On fast networks, On slow networks selection boxes.
   Proxy Authentication settings = Basic Authentication
7. If computer is to be used for a designer, setup NED Graphics or APSO software.  If the computer is to be used  for a project manager setup AutoCAD software.
8. Make the user a local user with admin rights so that the user can perform local admin tasks without the Brintons domain admin password.
